Dr Shipra JAIN

Dr Shipra Jain is a physicist by training and has an extensive experience of working on diverse atmospheric and climate science topics including seasonal predictions, monsoon dynamics, climate variability and change, climate sensitivity, climate extremes, and air pollution. At the CCRS, Dr Jain works on the development and dissemination of the subseasonal and seasonal forecasts for Singapore and Southeast Asia. She also carries out research that aids the prediction of extreme events on subseasonal to multidecadal timescales. As an early-career leader, Dr Jain has taken key initiatives to provide voice and visibility to the early career scientists in international science fora. She was the executive committee member (2018-2022) of the Young Earth System Scientists (YESS) community – a vibrant network of more than 2000 ECRs across the globe. She has also written essays on careers in science for Nature Career and Nature Index. At her previous employments, she has co-mentored several Master’s and PhD students and also taught Natural Hazards course to undergraduates at the University of Edinburgh.
