Dr Chanh KIEU
Dr Chanh Kieu’s research focuses on atmospheric predictability, AI/ML applications for weather and climate extremes, nonlinear dynamical systems, tropical cyclone dynamics/modelling, and ensemble data assimilation. Prior to joining the CCRS/Core Modelling Development Branch where his primary focus is the development of regional AI/ML models, he held several positions across government and academic sectors including a Physical Scientist at the NOAA/NCEP Hurricane Modeling group, a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland, College Park, a lecturer at Vietnam National University, a senior scientist at IMSG Inc., and a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor at Indiana University Bloomington.
Dr Kieu currently serves as an Editor of the Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences and is a member of the American Meteorological Society’s Tropical Cyclone and Meteorology Committee. He has also served as a topical/associate editor for several other journals and as a conference chair for different symposia in tropical meteorology at the AMS Annual Meetings and Conferences during 2023–2026.
