Dr Fai FUNG

Dr Fai Fung leads the Climate Change Impacts Branch of the Department of Climate Research at CCRS. He and his team carry out scientific research to translate underpinning climate science to facilitate and support the government’s national decision-making process on climate adaptation solutions. Current work focuses on sea-level research, urban climate change and stakeholder-led impact studies.

In 2026, Dr Fung moved from the UK Met Office where he led a team to deliver climate services alongside the UK’s national climate projections to support UK Government and UK organisations in their adaptation action. Alongside climate impacts analysis for applications, this included stakeholder consultation, facilitating knowledge production activities as well as exploring the use of natural language models for climate services. During his time at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH) and the University of Oxford, his scientific research has also included the investigating the impacts of climate change on water resources and environmental management.
