Dr Kanhu Charan PATTNAYAK

Dr Kanhu Charan Pattnayak’s current assignment at CCRS focuses on studying the impact of climate change on the Water Resources, Flood management and Food Security over Singapore. His research interest mainly addresses different aspects of climate change impacts such as South Asian monsoon circulation, hydrological cycle over Amazonian forest and food security over Africa.

Before joining CCRS, Dr Pattnayak was working as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) at the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. There he explored the impact of climate change on food security over eight African countries. He developed a seasonal crop yield forecasting system for maize for those countries. Dr Pattnayak spent another 3 years as a PDRA at the School of Geography, University of Leeds, where he studied the changes in the hydrological cycle over the Amazon basin in the past and under future climate change scenario using isotope enabled atmospheric component of the Hadley Centre Climate Model (HadCM3). And prior to that he served as a Project Scientist at the NCMRWF, Ministry of Earth Science India.
